I’ve just watched the new music video “Vou Crer” (”I Will Believe”) by Andre Valadao. Today I sang this song like never before. Each and every word of this song expressed exactly what I wanted to say to the Lord today. God opened many doors for us last year. The arrival of our firstborn David was probably the most amazing of all. Here is the thing. Even when we look back and we think of all our answered prayers, our hearts can easily be flooded by the anguish caused by the new year ahead of us. Then this anguish brings the fear of the unknown and the agony caused by the thought that our dreams, projects, and plans might be outside God’s heart.

God remided me once again through this song that prayer is the beginning of all things in a Christian’s life. All our dreams, projects, and plans have (or should have) prayer as the starting point. The craziest this image may seems to the world – Someone alone in a dark room kneeled by the bed, speaking aloud “to no one” while focusing his/her heart and thoughts on God – it reflects the most important step toward the goals we want to reach.
So, this song gave voice to everything that was in my heart today. Everything I wanted to say to God when I looked to 2010 I sang it many times through this song. It also brought many ideas which interwoven with each other in such a way that I had to come here and write this post and the next one. I pray and hope they may bless your heart.

Here is the lyrics and my translation for you to sing along and learn a little Portuguese.

VOU CRER / I WILL BELIEVE
Andre Valadao

Colocar minha fé em Ti
I will put my faith in You
Caminhar sem ao lado olhar
I will walk without looking left or right
Eu creio e confio em Ti
I believe and I trust in You
Não vou vacilar, não vou temer
I won’t hesitate, I won’t fear
Vou crer!
I will believe!

Oh Deus abre a porta para mim
Oh God, open the door for me
Ao lugar que tens só pra mim
To the plance You have just for me
Leva-me até o centro
Take me to the center
Do Teu coração
Of Your heart

Guia-me segurando em minhas mãos
Guide me while holding my hands
Carrega-me, quando não posso mais andar
Carry me when I can no longer walk
Protege-me, Leão da Tribo de Judá
Protect me, Lion of the Tribe of Judah
Não vou vacilar, não vou temer
I won’t hesitate, I won’t fear
Vou crer!
I will believe!

Oh Deus abre a porta para mim
Oh God, open the door for me
Ao lugar que tens só pra mim
To the plance You have just for me
Leva-me até o centro
Take me to the center
Do Teu coração
Of Your heart

De comunhão
Of fellowship

To aqui lendo e bebendo.
